New Opportunities for Trainees at GRIPE 2019

Mentoring of trainees (medical students and pathology residents) is a rewarding aspect of pathology medical education, and for the first time, the GRIPE 2019 conference in New Orleans is offering trainee mentoring opportunities by two workshops dedicated solely for trainees, which are as follows:

  1. Pathologists: Who are they? What do they do? Is this something for me?
  2. Pathology medical education: What is so special about pathology medical education?

Second, trainees will have an opportunity to submit a poster, allowing them to include it in their curricula vitae. The deadline for this poster is October 1, 2018. GRIPE is inviting ALL trainees to submit posters for the 2019 GRIPE conference as follows:

  1. Medical students are being asked to write a poster on a deficit or problem that they perceive in their pathology basic science course. The student will research the literature and report if this issue has been recognized, addressed, or studied. Finally, they will have a conclusion with possible solutions. This poster should be less than 500 words and should consist of the following categories: Title, Introduction (including their issue to address), Discussion, Conclusion, and References.
  2. Pathology residents are being asked to write a poster on a deficit or problem that they perceive in their pathology residency training. The resident will research the literature and report if this issue has been previously recognized, address, or studied. Finally, they will have a conclusion with possible solutions. This poster should be less than 500 words and should consist of the following categories: Title, Introduction (including their issue to address), Discussion, Conclusion, and References.

One medical student and one resident poster will be recognized at the conference.

Third, students and pathology residents can run for positions on our first trainee committee, which will be responsible for organizing trainee activities at future GRIPE conferences.

Finally, trainees that do attend and pay their registration fee, will automatically receive a year membership in GRIPE for FREE!

PLEASE inform your trainees about this opportunity, since GRIPE’s mission will NOT be successful without your help! Thank you for being part of GRIPE!

Opportunity for Pathology Program Directors and Residents

As the chair of the 2016 Group for Research in Pathology Education (GRIPE) Annual meeting, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about a special offer to pathology residents and faculty.

The Non-Member registration fee has been waived! That’s right, you don’t have to be a member to attend at the member registration price of $375.00.

Registration will be $400 after December 15, 2016.
Residents can attend for $200.00.

Our organization presents an excellent opportunity for residents and junior faculty to become involved with an international pathology group. For many medical schools, a record of working with a national or international group in the specialty is a requirement for promotion. We are dedicated to improving pathology education, especially in this era of integrated curricula.
