Dr. Richard Haspel is currently the Director of Medical Education for the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) Department of Pathology and an Associate Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School. He received a BS degree in biological sciences with honors from Stanford University, a PhD in molecular cell biology from Rockefeller University and an MD from Cornell University Medical College. He is author/co-author of 37 peer-reviewed publications and 14 Reviews, book chapters, monographs, or editorials on wide range of genomic pathology-related topics, including teaching and training in genomic pathology. In 2012, Dr. Haspel received a $1.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to facilitate the work of a national committee in developing a genomics curriculum for pathology residents. He has also led international studies to evaluate internal medicine resident and hematology fellow transfusion medicine knowledge using a validated survey and exam.
