Kent HeckerDr. Kent Hecker is an Associate Professor with a joint appointment in the Cumming School of Medicine and the Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Calgary, Canada. He received a BSc degree in biological sciences from the University of Lethbridge, Canada and an MSc in molecular genetics and a PhD in medical education from the University of Calgary, Canada. His research interests include curriculum/program design and evaluation; assessment of competencies in the health care professions; and, the application of neuro-imaging methods [functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG)] to assess learning reasoning and decision making in the health professions. He is the author/co-author of 47 peer-reviewed publications on a variety of topics, including medical education and is Principal Investigator/Co-Investigator on 8 funded grants totaling more than $2 million.
