Shivayogi Bhusnurmath wins the 2020 GRIPE Excellence in International Pathology Education Award

The Group for Research in Pathology Education (GRIPE) would like to extend a sincere congratulations to Shivayogi Bhusnurmath, winner of the 2020 Excellence in International Pathology Education Award.

This award is given to an individual who has demonstrated contributions to Pathology education globally and who has enhanced the teaching of Pathology at medical institutions in multiple locations outside of North America. Dr. Bhusnurmath was nominated by three GRIPE members, each in separate institutions, each who wrote letters of support and testimony of his contributions at their medical institution. Dr. Bhusnurmath was selected from among the nominees by an Award Committee of immediate past presidents of GRIPE.

Dr. Shivayogi Bhusnurmath has been very active in the field of pathology education to medical students and residents across the globe for over 40 years. He has taught students in India, Middle East (Oman), North America (Canada), Caribbean (Grenada) and the UK apart from being actively involved in clinical service and clinical research. He has been an active member of GRIPE since 1997 and was the first to host an international GRIPE conference outside the US in Grenada. He has presented papers and conducted several workshops for the annual meeting over the years. Dr. Bhusnurmath was instrumental in moving GRIPE towards the collection of digital pathology images and was a sustaining contributor to the GRIPE journal of Pathology Education.

He truly represents an exemplary pathology educator and educational innovator for medical students and pathology residents around the globe. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Bhusnurmath on this achievement.
