The Group for Research in Pathology Education (GRIPE) would like to extend a sincere congratulations to Ed Goljan, MD, winner of the 2019 Tom Kent Award for Excellence in Pathology Education.
Dr. Ed Goljan is the Former Chair of Pathology at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. He earned his Bachelor of Science at St. Bonaventure University in 1964 and his MD from Temple University in 1968. At his home institution, Dr. Goljan has served as a voice for pathology, serving as a leader in curriculum development as well as chair of his department. Additionally, he has been the recipient of numerous teaching and mentoring awards, speaking to his dedication as an educator and skill in bettering the educational experience for all students.
Dr. Goljan epitomizes the spirit of this award as an individual who has made substantial contributions to pathology education through a lifetime of distinguished service. It is his work in board preparation that has given Dr. Goljan renown beyond Oklahoma State. In short, when preparing for boards or even studying pathology during coursework, his numerous review texts and resources are among the gold standard among students.
