Call for Abstract Reminder

Dear Colleagues,

As a reminder, The Group for Research in Pathology Education (GRIPE) is currently inviting submissions of abstracts for presentation at the annual meeting at the San Diego Doubletree Golf Resort in San Diego, California USA, January 28-30, 2016. This year’s theme is “What Any and Every Physician Should Know about Pathology & Laboratory Medicine.”

Abstracts are currently being accepted in both Workshop and Poster presentation formats. Click here to submit or visit the GRIPE website at www.GRIPEWeb.org

The deadline for submission has been extended to September 15, 2015.

Tom Kent Award for Excellence in Pathology Education

Dear Colleagues,

The Tom Kent Award is designed to recognize an individual’s exceptional lifetime contribution to pathology education. Nominees should have a broad contribution to pathology education and the nomination should focus on a lifetime of contribution, rather than something done at any one point in time. Letters to the GRIPE Executive Committee from three GRIPE Members from separate institutions are required to nominate an individual. Letters may also come from outside the GRIPE organization. Nominated individuals do not need to be GRIPE members.

Call for Distinguished Service Awards

Dear Colleagues,

The Distinguished Service Award is designed to recognize an individual’s exceptional lifetime contribution to the mission of GRIPE. Letters to the GRIPE Executive Committee from three GRIPE Members from separate institutions are required to nominate an individual. Letters may also come from outside the GRIPE organization. Attached as a PDF is the form to use to nominate someone for this award.

Call for John Holliman Scholarship Applications

Dear Colleagues,

To encourage the support of professional development for pathology educators, the Group for Research in Pathology Education (GRIPE) is again offering the John H. Holliman Resident Scholarship to a pathology resident who is sincerely interested in pursuing undergraduate or graduate teaching of pathology as part of their career planning. GRIPE is a national/international organization of institutions, interest groups, and individuals who are dedicated to improving the quality of pathology education in allopathic and osteopathic medical, nursing, dental and allied health schools.The scholarship covers registration expenses (travel and lodging are not included) for the annual GRIPE Winter meeting, which will be in San Diego, California at the DoubleTree Golf Resort, January 28-30, 2016.

E-mail danielle@gripeadmin.org or fax (304-523-9701) the completed form, along with the resident’s one-page statement emphasizing his/her interest in teaching along with a curriculum vita that demonstrates past teaching experiences. The resident will also be asked to make prepare a poster on a topic of his/her choice and give a 10-minute presentation summarizing the poster at the 2016 meeting. The scholarship will be awarded by December 1, 2015 at which time the recipient and all applicants will be notified.
